Captain John Oravec aka: "Troutman" celebrates his 34th year as a charter fishing guide, writer and fishing educator. "Guiding is my passion" he says. He works the lower Niagara River (Dec 15 - April 15), Lake Ontario (May - Sept), then shifts to the St Lawrence River in the fall. He has written for In-Fisherman Magazine, appeared in an award-winning Great Lakes video (produced by In-Fisherman), and recently wrote an article on Winter Steelhead appearing in Lake Ontario Outdoors. As the salmon fishery developed in Lake Ontario, Captain John was there to pioneer it.
