Duck Hunting
Niagara River Duck Hunting

We now offer a new service, Duck Hunting.
This service is offered during the late Migratory Waterfowl Season on the Niagara River area.

Capt John Oravec provides exciting late season Lower Niagara River Duck hunts. The action on the Niagara is famous for old squaw/ longtail and scoters both inside the river channel and the feeding grounds of Lake Ontario off the river mouth.
My goal is to work hard using time proven decoy and river drifting tactics. My 21 ft Lund provides a seaworthy and safe hunting experience in a natural drift and ethical experience.
Capt John will school you on the unique format of boat hunting, ethical rules and a great waterfowl hunting adventure is waiting for you !
The Niagara draws amazing numbers of ducks seeking the plentiful open water and baitfish. I will personally go over the details for planning a great trip.

Items you will need in addition to your regular cold weather gear.
- NYS Hunting/Sporting License
- Migratory Stamp (Federal Duck Stamp)
- 2 - 3 Boxes Non-Toxic shot
- Shot gun with 3 shot plug
- NYS HIP Number
I recommend using 10 or 12 gauges with 3 or 3 1/2in mags in 6 - BB shot with Bismuth, Hevi-shot or Tungsten alloys best or at least high velocity steel shot (I use Federal # 6's for Old Squaws and BB's for Scoters) and BRING AT LEAST 3 BOXES OF SHELLS PER PERSON! Also bringing a box of #7 or 7 1/2 Steel Target loads between your group is a good idea for dispatching wounded birds.
